Young Joan asks about what she has seen in the middle of the night and learns it is “part of a big movement to make things better”. Years later, love grows between her and a worker while their artistry contributes to a world where people, animals and rivers are at war. A cautionary and timely bedtime story.

The Company

Megan Watson, Director/Co-Producer

Megan is a director/theatre creator from Ottawa who makes Toronto her home. She just completed a season at The Grand 20140504-IMG_5551Theatre in London, Ontario as the Apprentice Artistic
Director/Artistic Associate where she assisted on main-stage productions, worked with local playwrights on new play development and directed a production of Julius Caesar with the spring High School Project.Select Directing credits include: Crookback -a solo adaptation of Richard III (self-produced/ touring)The Queer Bathroom Stories (Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, World Pride programming, Toronto Fringe and university tour), Derailed (SummerWorks), As Is and Bent (Theatre Engine). Upcoming projects  include: Extremophiles by Georgina Beaty at Summerworks and Agency by Eva Barrie at the Theatre Centre.

Michela Cannon, Joan

michela_c-058Michela is a Scottish actor based in Toronto. She grew up in a small town named after a Green Oak tree and moved to Canada with her family when she was 16. She received a BFA from Ryerson University’s Acting Conservatory and graduated with Honours. She is now pursuing a career in theatre, film and television – and video games!  Theatre credits include: You Will Remember Me (Tarragon Theatre & Studio 180), Don’t Blink, Fragments (No Parachute Theatre); Under Milkwood, Major Weir (The Empty Room); Olga (Ryerson New Voices Festival); The Caribbean Dream(Speakeasy Productions). Film & TV: Presence (Upcoming), Joy, By Your Side. Other: Michela can be seen and heard in the popular video game Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate and is working with Ubisoft on a soon-to-be-announced project.

Alix Sideris, Harper

IMG_3879Alix Sideris is a professional actor, director, writer, movement coach, and facilitator.  As an actor, Alix has performed in numerous theatre, TV and film productions across Canada and was recently a member of the National Arts Centre’s English Acting Company.  A graduate from Concordia University, Alix has worked as an acting/movement instructor in many institutions thoughout Canada including Opera Lyra, the Canadian Opera Company, The National Arts Centre, The Pan Am Games (Toronto) and The Stratford Festival of Canada. Alix also enjoys being a mentor to many serious young artists.

Michael Ayres, Todd

MA_105Michael Ayres is a Toronto-based actor and writer, and a member of the 2015/2016 Mechanicals mentorship/training initiative at Factory Theatre. Recent credits include We Are Proud to Present… (The Theatre Centre), Hemlock Grove (Netflix), Lost Girl (Showcase/Syfy), and the upcoming series Shoot the Messenger (CBC/USA). Michael is a graduate of York University’s Acting Conservatory. He is thrilled to be a part of the challenge of this show.

Patricia Allison, Choreographer

PatriciaPatricia Allison is a Toronto based choreographer and performer. Most recently, she performed her solo work IMissYou directed by Rob Kempson at Hub14 in early June produced by her independent company LastName FirstName Productions.  Patricia also participated in choreographic residencies in Saint John, New Brunswick with Connection Dance Works and Vancouver, British Colombia with Mascall Dance last year. Patricia was the choreographer on the 2015 Best Of Fringe hit show by Cue6 Productions Pool (No Water) directed by Jill Harper. Patricia is gearing up to collaborate with Megan Watson to produce their piece One Way in February 2017.

Kathy Anderson, Sound Design

Kathy was raised in a household where her father didn’t speak above a whisper. This is kathpic-2probably why she is very sensitive to sound. After acquiring a BFA from Ryerson, she wrote and composed ‘Gameshow:The Musical’, which won Best of Fringe and Now Magazine’s Pick of the Fringe in 2008. Since then she has given fashion advice to Don Cherry, helped Richard Sherman recruit the next Seahawk, and filmed Snoop playing Basketball. She’s currently a Creative Producer at Metalworks Studios and Toronto Cat Rescue’s Executive Video Purrrducer. If she’s not looking through a lens you can find her in a downward dog or drinking spicy caesars while memorizing Eminem lyrics. Check out her work at kathcreative.com

Sorcha Gibson, Set & Costume Designer

Select credits include: Assistant Set Designer, Espoir/ESPWA, Théâtre Français de Toronto (2016), Wardrobe Supervisor, Venus’ Daughter, Obsidian Theatre (2016), Production Designer, The Salt Garden, Canadian Film Centre (2015); Costume Designer, Balm in Gilead (2015), Costume/Set Designer, Two Nine One (291) Letters (2014), Costume Designer, Martin Chuzzlewit (2014), Ryerson Theatre School; Set Designer, John and Beatrice, Should Be Theatre (2013). She recently organized and contributed to Ryerson’s portion of the exhibition at the Prague Quadrennial, in June 2015.

Chris Malkowski, Lighting Designer

Malkowski_0079.jpgChris Malkowski is a professional lighting designer based in Toronto and designs lights for dance, drama, opera, musical theatre and live events. Recent productions include: Mrs Warren’s Profession, Our Town, Peter and the Starcatcher, You Never Can Tell (Assistant Lighting Designer Shaw Festival), Muse, The Village (Bridge to Artists 2015), Boys from the Burbs (Empty Room 2015), Emancipation of Ms. Lovely (Summerworks 2015), One Flew From The Cuckoo’s Nest (Highlands Festival 2015). Chris has also assisted for notable Canadian Lighting Designers such as Kevin Lamotte, Bonnie Beecher and Kim Purtell as well as working with respected companies such as The Shaw Festival, Ballet Jorgen, Opera Atelier and Soul Pepper. Chris has also been nominated for Best Lighting Design for the 2011 Toronto Broadway World Awards. Chris is a graduate of the Ryerson University Performance Production Program.

Tamara Vuckovic, Stage Manager

She is the resident Stage Manager of ARC (Actors Repertory Company) and of Off Centre Music Salon. Selected Stage Management credits include: Agokwe (La Chapelle); The Trial of Judith K (Theatre Passe Muraille); The Love Crimes of Frances Lark (Buddies in Bad Times); Brilliant Traces (Tango Soul); Little Death (The Theatre Centre); Hairspray (LOT); Melancholy Play (The Empty Room); Macbeth (Sterling Theatre Company); Moment (ARC); True (Criminal Theatre); Tragedy: A Tragedy (SummerWorks Festival); Queer Bathroom Stories (Buddies in Bad Times); Old Love (Sirius Theatrical); Mrs. Warren’s Profession (Sterling Studio Theatre); The Biographer (Tango Co.).

Tamara is also an emerging Director. She was a recipient of Theatre Ontario’s Professional Theatre Training Program Grant to support her directorial debut; George F. Walker’s Suburban Motel. Eva Barrie, Co-Producer

IMG_0729Eva Barrie is a theatre director, actor and creator. She was one of the producers behind Melancholy Play presented by the Empty Room Collective. She, along with Sophia Fabiilli, are heading the #FringeFemmeTO movement this summer. In the fall, Megan Watson will be directing Eva’s new play,  Agency, at the Theatre Centre.
